CREB has recently released an informational article on the beautiful Mount Pleasant community, in Calgary. Let's take a look together, and see what it has in store for us!

About Mount Pleasant:

The opening of the Tran-Canada Highway came four years later, establishing the new thoroughfare as the community’s southern border.

Mount Pleasant’s northern border, and perhaps its greatest asset, arrived in 1967 with the opening of Confederation Park. Once known as the North Hill Coulee, the 160-acre park was designed to celebrate...

Owners Darren and Melanie, who live in the S.E. with their two children, were longing for quality ice cream close by. Darren decided to leverage his background in restaurant management to make this dream come true.

"We were looking for a community outside of the core that was missing a niche place like this," Darren says. "Our goal is to help make the S.E. suburbs the best place to live in Calgary and to be truly part of a community.”

Industry know-how

To be honest, you won't see as many transactions as a REALTOR® does. An average family buys/sells Real Estate every 5 to 10 years. This is because when you buy a house, you're looking to create a home. You want your family to grow in it and you're only going to look to move from it if your family has outgrown it due to a baby on the way or kids growing up (upsizing) or the house has become too big due to the kids leaving for university or buying their own property (downsizing). This means that you probably don’t have a lot of experience with the ins and outs of real estate.  On the flip side of things, REALTORS® have the experience and education to get things done within the industry. They handle contracts and the real estate process on a daily basis which means they can ensure that you are well protected.

Negotiation skills

Maybe you are a great negotiator because you do it for work, or have taken courses in it, or maybe you're just a great sweet talker....

Subtle Scents Sell

It's the perfect time for baking sweets and everyone knows that the smell of fresh baked cookies are a great strategy for creating that homey atmosphere that all buyers are looking for. A 2012 study by researchers at Washington State University brought a different idea to the table however as the study found that while the commonly held belief that sweet smells such as baked cookies could pique buyers’ interest during a showing may not be a bad one, simple scents have actually been found to be more effective for positively influencing would-be buyers.
